whats new?

For those kind few that follow my blog you may notice some changes have happened!

i have done a little bit of internet based decorating and used a brand spanking new picture as a title page, looks pretty good dont you think?

Anyways, for those of you who are interested, here is the original image.

The picture is titled "my own worst enemy" and acts as an aesthetic response to my permanent struggle with the multitude of ideas in my head!

more to follow soon, so keep posted

Oooooh, Look what I found!

Whilst trawling through my laptop deleting some of the many many excess art photgraphs I have, I stumbled accross this little gem hiding at the bottom of a folder.....

This is me and miss Char Outram in all our performative glory in a video of the performance from the "Oooooh, I like that" show. Whilst I must confess that I am in no way a performance artist, this was something pretty special.

hope you like it

well.....

I feel as though I am neglecting my blogging duties at the moment, and this is for one simple reason.....that nothing is happening!

since my last post I have graduated and moved back home and started the next part of the journey, and to be honest its all very exciting. the not so exciting part was leaving Reading and all my amazing, super talented and artistically awesome friends behind.

so, I thought I would use this blog space to do a little promotion for my chums, you lot had better check them out.

the results!

Yesterday we got given our univeristy marks, so after a sleepless night and a nausiating morning me and emily went to collect our grades at 11, and that was our first mistake. The marks wern't released untill 12 so we had to wait outside the office for an entire hour before we could get them.....not fun.

anyways, the long and short of it was that I ended up with a 2:1, nstill a good mark, but not the mark I was hoping for, and this was made all the more depressing when i discovered that I was a mere 3 marks away from the first.....gutted.

on a lighter note though, I have now finished the stepping stone that is university, along with my awesomely talented friends. we will be graduating on the 2nd of July, amusing pictures in silly hats will surely follow.

I'll keep you posted with what happens next wen it happens

oh and.....

I forgot to mention that my killer friend Emily Davis bought me a website for my birthday present, so make sure you log in to www.alexwebbart.co.uk and appriciate it's pure unadulterated awesomness!

the final show

so after a pretty intense 2 week period and a monsterous 72 hour sleepless final run the degree show is complete. It was far from pleasant, but the result is definately something I am proud of.

So, apart from the remaining performative aspects which will be happening on the 7th, 10th and the 11th I am free from university.

I shall get some pictures up as soon as i have the chance to take some, untill then just wish me luck for the upcoming assesments.

(...) the aftermath

so the central gellery show appears to have been a resounding success!

the show itself was a bit of a troublesome matter, because we (as a group) decided to make our lives harder by having an invisable setup. this process basically means setting up the show in one evening (while there is noone else about), this creates the ilusion that the artworks have just mysteriously appeared! this is all fine and well but it is a lengthy process, we began setup at 5 in the afternoon and i didn't leave untill 6:30 in the morning.....bad times

i was one of the early ones too! Christian Tilt and Owen Chapman didn't leave the department untill 9:30 and worked through for the rest of the day without any thought of sleep!.....mental

anyways, here are some pictures to show you what you missed!
hope you like them

broken mirrors!

so i am currently in a bit of a stream of bad luck!

In preparation for (...) I am smashing mirrors to make awhat has the potential to be an awesome chandaleer, however, due to this fact I have currently racked up an impressive 35 years of bad luck because of it!

so here are the bad things that have happened because of my foolish mirror smashing ways!

* First things first i did not manage to sell my painting that was involved with the chelsea show (while this isn't the end of the world, it does mean i have to venture to london to collect it!)
* The cheep wood i bought to make my final 15 paintings has decided to warp and make every canvas created totaly unusable!
* whils priming canvases earlier today, my paintbrush decided to shed literally every single one of its bristles onto my now very hairy canvas!
* The affore mentioned cheep wood that was previously stacked so neatly on the wall of my studio space decided to fall over and completely destroy all the work I had put into the affore mentioned chandaleer!
* It also smashed one of the departments overhead projectors in the process
* While picking up the remains of my work i hacked my finger open on a piece of broken mirror
* The next day i managed to cut the SAME FINGER on a nail that was jabbing out from a poorly created canvas!

bad times
let this be a warning to you all

(...)

For those of you who dont know I am soon to be involved in a show in central gallery and working with such artistic talents as Christian Tilt, Katie Barrington, Owen Chapman, Roisin Dykes, Emily Davis, Char Outram and Abi Bryant we are creating an exhibition under the title (...).

The show is starting in a couple of weeks and so the first few preparations are underway. yesterday we had a photoshoot to get an image for our poster (and maybe an image to include as a separate piece of work) and so i thought i would give you a sneak peek at the images.

I shall keep you updated as the action unfolds but for now I hope this is enough to wet your apetite!

and so it begins.....

This whole "blogging" lark is very very new to me. If I am honest with myself, then the thought of people making a concious effort to find out what I personally have to blog about seems a little far fetched, but oh well everyone is doing it aren't they.

i created this thing so that i could keep a record of everything i achieve (that is if I achieve anything at all!) For example on friday i had my first painting on display in a London gallery, which is pretty exciting. Last week i was involved in the Capitol art show in bracknell (although not as artistically lavish as London but still pretty good) and within the next few week I am involved in (and curating) a central gallery exhibition.....it really is all go!

I shall do my best to keep this as updated as possible, but we will have to wait and see if I have the time or energy! i will put up as many pictures as i can and keep you up to date with all the gossip, but untill then feel free to follow me on twitter or facebook.....or not.....its your call.
