its a classic.....

well in my opinion anyways.

recently one of my paintings has caused a bit of a buzz, and for onnce its for an apprectiation of the aesthetic rather than people being mindlessly offended by the images I prouce.

I reverted back to my old ways, wet canvas, white acrylic and quink ink....hence the classic comment!I haven't even considered painting like this since the end of second year and honestly, since its revival, I kinda have to question what took me away from it!

what can I say, people obviously love monochrome!

it seems all to common.....

that i neglect my blogging duties!

i may only have a small number of followers that probably don't even pay attention to the ramblings of a small time lincolnshire artist, but that doesn't mean that I should allow myself to become slack!

I have been painting again, and showing for that matter, but i have no photographic evidence of the later fact, alas i shall do some searching and get some concrete evidence.

painting wise i have gotten back into my old perverse ways!

This is "Ariel"

Im really loving the combination of the black and white with the almost garish brightness of the colour! i have another painting of a similar ilk and as soon as i have a picture ill share her with you.

I really need to get back in touch with my camera!

Im at work!

And not the artistic kind,
alas if the Dogma bosses only knew!

the thing is though, is that art wise, there is actually some shit kicking off! Firstly, im painting again. i know this may not sound like the most amazing revalation for an art blog, but its been ages since i even considered lifting a paint brush.

secondly, there are some exciting shows and otential internships on the horizon. I have a couple of shows in may, one collective al fresco type of event and the other a solo show in a dinky little lincoln gallery. I have also been given the all clear for a very large commission (size that is, not price) in dogmas beer garden!

internship wize there are a couple of possibilities, one is with a local gallery working directly under the artistic co-ordinator, the other is part of the lincoln arts programme, and this is the one that im really excited about. It is basically a connection with loads of different Lincoln and Nottingham based galleries, exciting times.

i shall keep you up to date with how it all goes when i know whats going on.
untill then

whats new?

For those kind few that follow my blog you may notice some changes have happened!

i have done a little bit of internet based decorating and used a brand spanking new picture as a title page, looks pretty good dont you think?

Anyways, for those of you who are interested, here is the original image.

The picture is titled "my own worst enemy" and acts as an aesthetic response to my permanent struggle with the multitude of ideas in my head!

more to follow soon, so keep posted

Oooooh, Look what I found!

Whilst trawling through my laptop deleting some of the many many excess art photgraphs I have, I stumbled accross this little gem hiding at the bottom of a folder.....

This is me and miss Char Outram in all our performative glory in a video of the performance from the "Oooooh, I like that" show. Whilst I must confess that I am in no way a performance artist, this was something pretty special.

hope you like it

well.....

I feel as though I am neglecting my blogging duties at the moment, and this is for one simple reason.....that nothing is happening!

since my last post I have graduated and moved back home and started the next part of the journey, and to be honest its all very exciting. the not so exciting part was leaving Reading and all my amazing, super talented and artistically awesome friends behind.

so, I thought I would use this blog space to do a little promotion for my chums, you lot had better check them out.

the results!

Yesterday we got given our univeristy marks, so after a sleepless night and a nausiating morning me and emily went to collect our grades at 11, and that was our first mistake. The marks wern't released untill 12 so we had to wait outside the office for an entire hour before we could get them.....not fun.

anyways, the long and short of it was that I ended up with a 2:1, nstill a good mark, but not the mark I was hoping for, and this was made all the more depressing when i discovered that I was a mere 3 marks away from the first.....gutted.

on a lighter note though, I have now finished the stepping stone that is university, along with my awesomely talented friends. we will be graduating on the 2nd of July, amusing pictures in silly hats will surely follow.

I'll keep you posted with what happens next wen it happens
